Ruby’s Place

“Ruby’s Place” is a black and white photograph of a window in an elderly Maine woman’s house. The weathered shingled siding is across from a small town cemetery—as can be seen in the reflection in the glass-and you are possibly wondering what the occupant of the house thinks as she looks out her window.
Technically I used a Mamiya 645, Kodak PX 125 film, shot at f8/125 sec.

After working as a research professor in molecular biology, I chose B/W photography as a second career. I use Mamiya medium format cameras and Kodak PX 125 film. Although I print digitally [Epson 2400] onto fine art paper, much of my work deals with silver gelatin printing onto glass, stones, shells, and other three dimensional objects. Both of these printing surfaces [paper vs. 3D] require very different types of photographs.

the work you have featured here is truly wonderful. i love to shoot in b/w but the finished product is never quite right, i could learn a lot from simply browsing your gallery.
